Putting an Asset on Hold

An example scenario illustrating the usefulness of this feature is as follows: Imagine that you have a piece of machinery that is currently idle, and you want to defer depreciation to a later date.

Without this feature, you would need to dispose of the asset and add it back into service later. The advantage of using this feature over the Dispose Asset feature is that it helps you keep track of the assets you still own; when you dispose of an asset, it disappears from the asset list. To take an asset out of service or put it back in service, an Asset must be put on hold first.

Steps for placing an Asset on Hold:

  1. Place the idle asset on hold by selecting the Asset and clicking Put On Hold towards the top right of the page.

  2. Click Yes after adding any desired comments.

  3. The status is now “On Hold.”

  4. Unposted schedule periods appear as “On Hold.”
