Sage Intacct Lease Accounting Release Notes

July 23, 2026| Product: Sage Intacct Lease Accounting

DESCRIPTION

LA 1.8 is a major release delivering four headline features—expanded Payment Schedule Transaction types, ROU Asset Residual Value, Partial Tax Exemptions, and a complete rebuild of the reporting suite—alongside a full user interface framework upgrade, significant performance improvements, and more than 90 bug fixes across the application.

RELEASE NOTES

New features

Payment Schedule Transaction Types

Leases can now generate payment transactions through multiple channels beyond the original AP Bill:

  • GL – GL Journal — post payments directly as GL Journal entries

  • Cash Management – Credit Card — create credit card charge transactions

  • Cash Management – Manual Payment — record manual cash payments

  • Purchasing – Transaction Definition — generate purchasing transactions (PO Documents)

Configuration flows through Lease Class → Lease → Payment Schedule. Each transaction type includes full schedule job and catch-up support, and the Lease Import Center has been updated to accept the new transaction types.

ROU Asset Residual Value

Residual value can now be defined at the Lease Class level (as a percentage) and inherited or overridden at the Lease level. Highlights:

  • Residual percentage configured on the Lease Class flows down to new leases

  • Depreciation methods updated to factor in residual value

  • ROU schedules reflect adjusted depreciation amounts

  • Residual value is preserved and recalculated through revaluation events

  • Import support for the new residual value fields

Partial Tax Exemptions (Reclaimable VAT)

For jurisdictions with partially-reclaimable VAT, a new Reclaimable field allows specifying the percentage of tax that can be recovered. Only the non-reclaimable portion is included in lease valuation, impacting LL and ROU calculations. The feature applies to lease creation, editing, imports, and revaluation.

New Reports

Five core reports have been completely rebuilt in our latest architecture, replacing the legacy platform reports:

Lease Liability Balance Report

ROU Asset Balance Report

Lease Expense Report replaces Interest Expense Report & Depreciation Expense Report

Lease Payments Report

All reports include configurable prompts/filters (date ranges, Lease Group, Lease Class, etc.), drill-in capability, and consistent column layouts.

Enhancements

View Lease — New Transactions Tab

The legacy "GL Batches" tab has been replaced with a comprehensive Transactions tab that displays all generated transactions—GL Journal Entries, AP Bills, Credit Card charges, Cash Management payments, and Purchasing documents—in organized sub-sections with hyperlinks back to Intacct records.

View Lease — Refreshed Header & Workflow Controls

  • Next-step workflow actions surfaced contextually based on status.  The anticipated next step in the Lease creation or change workflows are displayed prominently as a button at every step of the way.

  • Tabs disabled/enabled dynamically based on Workflow and Change statuses for less confusing (and faster) page loads

Additional Workflow Statuses

New granular workflow statuses improve visibility into lease processing state and enable better tab optimization and user guidance throughout the lease lifecycle.

Performance & Data Architecture

  • View Lease now uses an improved data architecture that reduces the volume of Intacct API calls and significantly reducing page load times.

Terminology Updates

  • "GL Batch" → GL Journal Entries throughout the application

  • "Charge Card" → Credit Card across UI and imports

Gateway User Validation

The Validate Gateway User popup in Lease Config has been redesigned with a clearer layout, updated validation logic, and improved messaging.

GL Journal Reference Improvements

  • GL Journal entries for Place in Service / Place Back in Service now reference the Lease Name instead of Lease ID

  • AP Bills now populate Reference Number and Description fields

  • GL Batch dropdown removed from LL/ROU schedule entry forms (auto-linked)

Payment Schedule Processing

  • Schedule jobs now check which entities need processing before running, reducing unnecessary work

  • "Transaction Type = None" marks payments as Posted without linking to any external transaction

  • Catch-up logic extended to all new transaction types

Negative Tax Rates Removed

Validation now rejects negative tax rates at both the UI and import levels, preventing invalid tax configurations.  Tax values are expected to have the same sign as Taxable Amounts.

Default LL-to-ROU Adjustment

New leases now default the LL-to-ROU Adjustment Amount to 0.00 on creation, reducing manual entry for the most common case.

Current Portion GL Journals

Current/Non-Current reclassification GL Journals are now posted as draft, giving accountants a review step before final posting.

Bug Fixes

Key areas addressed:

  • Schedule generation reliability — fixed scenarios where LL/ROU schedules could lose the last batch of operations, or leases could get stuck in generation states

  • Revaluation correctness — catch-up debits/credits no longer swapped after termination or revaluation with change dates before last posting; ROU depreciation properly updated when residual percentage changes

  • Disclosure Report accuracy — Future Maturity section no longer includes leases starting after the report end date; interest amounts corrected

  • Import fixes — resolved infinite loop on file upload, corrected template descriptions, improved validation for transaction types and tax fields

  • View Lease stability — fixed blank pages, permission errors, missing data on various tabs, and spinner issues

  • Transaction posting — corrected GL Journal creation for Current Portion, fixed missing AP Bills and Credit Card transactions, resolved catch-up failures for non-AP transaction types

  • Multi-entity & location — fixed GL Account Type location constraints and credit card entity validation

  • UI polish — scroll bar issues, popup sizing, calendar picker styling, tooltip gaps, date format consistency, and field spacing

KNOWN ISSUES

  • When using Transaction Allocations in conjunction with advanced Tax options (VAT/GST), the Accounts Payable module currently prohibits the creation of AP Bills with Allocations specified on their lines.  In instances where Lease Accounting is used to create AP Bills, this limitation is inherited by Lease Accounting and will disappear once the feature is changed in Accounts Payable.

  • Leases in multiple currencies are accommodated, with the limitation that the currency of lease payments has to be in the base currency of the entity in which it is accounted for.

  • If the Lease Liability Balance Report, ROU Asset Balance Report, Payments Report or Expense Report is missing after the upgrade to 1.8, an administrator needs to provide the users access to them.

APPLIES TO

The release will be automatically deployed to all existing instances in a staggered fashion starting July 23rd, 2026.

Custom fields can now be added to the Lease Accounting objects through Platform Service. They will automatically appear on the required New, Edit and View pages.

  • Support for User-Defined Dimensions

Improvements:

Lease Accounting Release V1.2

April 25, 2024 | Product: Sage Intacct Lease Accounting

DESCRIPTION

The V1.2 release includes the following new features and improvements. Application implementation and setup procedures remain unchanged.

New Features

  • Ability to Enable/Disable Creation of GL Batch When Putting Lease in Service

A new setting, "Suppress GL Journal Creation from Lease functions" was added which allows a user to enable or disable the creation of GL Batches when putting a lease in service. The default setting for this is disabled.

  • Date Fields and New Reports

The Day, Month, and Year columns have been added to the Lease and Asset Schedules within Lease Accounting. In addition to these new columns, 5 new reports have been added to the lease accounting Module:

    • Lease Payment Report: This report shows the Lease Payments received for leases.

    • Depreciation Expense Report: This report shows the Accumulated Depreciation for a specified period and links to the related entries.

    • Interest Expense Report: This report shows the accrued interest for a period and links to the related entries.

    • Liability Balance Report: This report provides the liability balance for a given period, as well as any related entries.

    • RoU Asset Balance: This report provides the RoU Asset balance for a given period, as well as any related entries.

  • Mass update lease status

A new Mass Update feature has been added to the Generate Payment Schedules, Generate Lease & RoU Schedules, and Put Leases into Service pages. Users can now update the status of multiple leases at the same time. This makes it easier to move multiple leases from Created to In Service, especially during the initial implementation phase.

Improvements

  • Streamlined provisioning

Provisioning Lease Accounting just got easier with the addition of the Validate Gateway button. When a user selects this button, we run a validation to test the XML Gateway User Credentials and the existence of the Serrera and AJAX sender IDs. This confirms that the XML user has the proper permissions and credentials to run Lease Accounting, which prevents users from receiving any provisioning errors.

  • Renaming dimensions

If a user renames any of the standard or user-defined dimensions in Sage Intacct, the new names will now be reflected on the Lease Group pages.

Note: This does not apply to the Vendor dimension. If the Vendor dimension is renamed, it will still be called “Vendor” in Lease Accounting.

  • Add the Scheduled Date Fields

Added the Day, Month, and Year columns to the schedules. This allows for the date fields to be utilized in custom reports.

  • Mass generate Schedules

Added a "Mass Update" function to Generate Payment Schedules, Generate Lease & RoU Schedules, and Put Leases into Service.
